Gift Card Program

Why does the PTO sell gift cards?

The reason for selling gift cards is simple: families generate revenue through purchases they would make anyway. Groceries, clothing, toys, gifts and even gasoline can be purchased with gift cards. An organization of 150 families easily spends between one and two million dollars p

er year on food, clothing, and other essentials. If our Oak Hills families use gift cards for these purchases, the PTO could raise as much as $40,000 to $75,000 per year without spending an additional penny! The rock wall in the gym was purchased with funds generated from this program.

How does the PTO create revenue with the gift cards?

Oak Hills PTO buys the gift cards of many retail stores through two regional clearinghouses. Participating stores (which include many local merchants) donate a portion of the monies spent on the gift card to the PTO and cardholder receives the full face value of the gift card. The amount of the donation, from two to fifteen percent or more, is retained by the Oak Hills PTO as revenue.

School year to date for the 2011 – 2012 school year, we’ve earned just over $4000. Our Goal for this year is $7000.00. With your help we can make it happen.

How can my family participate in the gift card program?

There are two ways to buy gift cards from the Oak Hills PTO.

  • First, bring your checkbook and come to the gift card sales table in the front of the school and purchase from some vendors that are stocked in our inventory box. We sell immediately before and after school from this table throughout the school year.
  • Second, you may fill out an order form, attach a check, put it in an envelope and leave it in the box in the school office by 8:00am Monday morning. Your order will be ready for delivery or pick-up at the end of the school day on Thursday of that week. If you would like to have your order sent home from school with your child simply indicate that on your order and make sure your form is signed. You may also pick-up your order in person at our gift card sales table during the Thursday afternoon sales period from 2:30 to 2:50pm or Friday either before or after school.
